FUNKMASTER

Funkmaster Hutchy exploded onto the North of England's early Funk, Soul & Hip-Hop Electro scene in the very early '80s.
An early proponent of Underground Dance Music, Hutchy's iconic club nights and his famed and flawless Deejay sets, set the scene for the NEXT generation of local Deejay/Producer talents like Unique 3 and Nightmares On Wax, up-and-coming youngsters out there in the crowd.

A Master Mixer before the term was so throw-away, Hutchy's turntable skills lead him directly into the beating heart of the Disco Mix Club and its brand new and exciting DMC mixing competition. Hutchy would change that competition forever by being the first EVER Deejay to scratch with props!
His DMC battles saw him nip with ease at the heels of Paul Dakeyne, CJ Mackintosh, Dave Seamen, and Cutmaster Swift to name but a few and in January 1989 Mixmag honored Funkmaster Hutchy and his inventive & creative mixing with a dedicated front cover. His name quickly became established throughout the scene.
